We do love pizza a lot at Maison Baba, and next week when I get my new swanky Bosch oven, I'm sure to love it even more (because the current one has a nasty habit of burning anything unlucky enough to be in the corner). One of my lovely work colleagues who I shall call Mrs. M, very kindly gave me a recipe for marinara sauce which she thinks is sheer perfection, so I decided to give it a whirl yesterday. Naturally, I made a few tiny amendments to suit my personal taste, but the end result was gorgeous so I shall share my version with you.
Marinara Sauce for Pizza
1 x 300g carton of Crushed Tomatoes
60ml Water
1/2 tbsp Dried Parsley
1 tsp Dried Basil
1/2 tsp Dried Thyme
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1`tbsp Garlic Powder (or 5 garlic cloves, crushed)
2 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
Mix all of the ingredients in a large pot, bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 minutes until thick and soupy.
The sauce is ready! Simply cool & keep in a tightly covered container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to 6 months.
Ooh this is exactly what I needed :) Am v motivated to make my own pizza this week, graduating on from pita pizzas to proper pizzas and was gonna start googlin :) Thanks!
