Two unmissable events are
Surf 'n Turf which pits Martin Shanahan in the Surf corner against Paul Flynn in the Turf corner who will be having a cook-off on Sunday at 2pm in the Town Hall. This epic battle will be MC'd by Nick Munier of Pichet and Richard Reeve of O'Brien Chop House. This will be a sneak preview of their new TV series due to air on RTE1 in the Autumn
The Brewer, The Blogger and The Baker on Saturday night where three Dungarvan girls Claire Dalton (Dungarvan Brewing Company), Eunice Power (Cooking for You) and Niamh Shields (Eat Like a Girl),will transform the Civic Offices into an amazing 'Pop Up' Restaurant for one evening only. The menu will present the best of local and seasonal produce, with recipes from Eunice and London based cook book author Niamh. *may be sold out - don't blame me...*
Some of the Chefs taking part in the Festival
The festival is tailored to appeal to entire families and includes a host of free as well as ticketed events over the weekend with something for all age groups and all tastes. Back by popular demand are seaweed seminars, foraging trails, cake decorating demos, the mobile farm at King John’s Castle, the community picnic in the park, restaurants trails and cookery demonstrations to mention but a few.
Anna & Ruth who know good food when they see it
Sadly, I won't be able to make it to Dungarvan but if you go, you're in for a wonderful weekend. Visit Waterford Festival of Food's website for more information.
