Christmas is over and it's almost time to hop back onto the bandwagon of virtuousness and start making a whole list of worthy resolutions which you'll break within 10 days. No, just me then? Yikes.
As it's still technically the season of goodwill, the lovely people at
Palmers Department Stores want to give one of you lucky readers a whopping £50 worth of Amazon vouchers. I said yes because a) we all need a treat after Christmas and b) I’m always up for a giveaway.
I’ve taken the opportunity of having a look around the Palmers site – their duvet cover sets are perfect for getting the spare room spruced up for Springtime, and I’ve also been having a gander at their kitchenware (the Denby ranges are rather covetable).
They also stock a smashing range of Pop Art cushions from Malini; these are great presents for teenagers that claim to not to like anything. In terms of local history, Palmers are champions of longevity – they were established in 1837, and these days, they’ve got stores all over in East Anglia (in Dereham, Great Yarmouth and Bury St. Edmunds respectively), just up the road from my Uncle John and Auntie Pat's house.
So, how do you get your paws on this prize?
Simply tell me the New Year's Resolution you'll make and definitely break. Nothing rude please, I keep a clean blog here and the Childerbeasts can read all sorts of words!
Rules :
Only open to Republic of Ireland & UK readers only (I know it's mean but them's the rules)
Competition closes on Saturday 5th January at 18.00
You will receive the prize within 28 days in the form of an e-voucher (once I get your email address, of course)
* Random winner picking works like this. Every comment is assigned a number in order. I then ask Lulu to pick a number between the first & last. They're the winners.
Lulu's decision is final. No point in arguing with a 7 year old, she's always right...

Less wine....but I know I'll break that resolution.
ReplyDeleteI always do.
No snacking on cheese and crackers (after lunch, before dinner, after dinner, at bedtime.....)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the entries - just remember if you don't have an name, I can't award you the prize...
DeleteNot to buy anymore books!
ReplyDeleteLess baking of fattening sweet things and more exercise at the gym (5 days per week is my aim). Might end up upping the exercise to compensate for the cake baking. :)
ReplyDeleteTo eat less and move more , might last one day :) but make it every year .
ReplyDeleteHmm my resolution is always to lose weight but think I might actually succeed this year. One in likely to make and break is to drink less wine
ReplyDeleteTo stop buying cook books. Or just books in general. I'm so bad, I constantly have a stack of books to read that's the same height as me, regardless of how much I read
ReplyDeleteIt has to be to have a little me time! I always say I will try to but somehow everyone else's needs seem to take priority over mine!
ReplyDeletei will make the same resolutions I make every year - lose weight & get healthier. I might also decide to learn to drive and not get past my 3rd lesson (it's happened a few times so pretty likely to happen again!)
ReplyDeleteI really really must try and complete unfinished projects before starting new and interesting ones!
ReplyDeleteAs some of my UFOs are 20+ years old, it's likely to be broken again :)
To remain on a diabetic diet for the whole of 2013 and not have one drop of sugar ( I'll never last )
ReplyDeleteTo stop making New Year resolutions!
ReplyDeletelet's be real here. Resolutions are made to be broken!! eating less chocolate and excercise more being the obvious ones for me :-)
ReplyDeleteI recon I'd like to learn a new skill.... (but lets face facts... I am too bloody lazy!)
ReplyDeleteI resolve to make a monthly meal plan and stick to it I know I will break this because as much as I love lists and planning Frankie and Benny's just opened down the road and sadly my resolve is not that strong!
ReplyDeleteAnd one I know I will keep - to read to my eight month old daughter every night, Gruffalo here we come!
To try and be more economical with food shopping!! Temptation to go into avoca after a bad day will happen around the 10th I'd say :-(
ReplyDeleteTo stay away from boys.....
ReplyDeleteTo eat more healthily but being the cake and chocolate addict I am, well it's the 2nd january and oops already! :)
ReplyDeleteMy resolution this year is to get fitter. It's my resolution every year which is the reason I can guarantee that it'll get broken. I'm too lazy to do the exercise I need to do! :(
ReplyDeleteMine is to live better this year. I spent so much of 2012 stressed about work and home, this year I'd really like to just sit back and enjoy myself a bit more!
ReplyDeleteto give up wine and crisps - you know I'll never keep that one!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! x
After chatting with the spreadsheet, less spending!
ReplyDeleteI had given up cheese, coleslaw and crisp sandwiches but i am craving them something fierce already!
ReplyDeleteHealthy eating! I'm going to eat regularly, no more skipping brekkie & lunch, less wine, junk food & snacking. But now I've just read about crisp, cheese & coleslaw sandwiches, I am going to have to try that combo some day very very soon....
ReplyDeleteI'm giving up giving up.
ReplyDeleteTo do more exercise, funny how it's the one I have to make every year as it just never gets done!
ReplyDeleteWorry less, live more. Simples!
ReplyDeleteBe nice to you for the year! :-)
ReplyDeleteI will not buy anymore books until I get through the pile taking over my bedroom. I have said this the last two years aswell, maybe this time!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :)
I decided to give up sucking my thumb because I'm 30 and its affecting my teeth and I lasted about 6 hours before I was doing it again, how can you give up a 30 year old habit that quick
ReplyDeleteI am going to keep my desk tidy and keep the filing up to date as i quickly gather up the pile that is already forming.
ReplyDeleteMy resolution! I want to train with himself for a cross country cycle. I've a feeling the first spot of rain & I'll be making my excuses!! :D
ReplyDeleteTo finally declutter this apartment. I tend to add rather than remove. This year I'll try but probably fail ;)
ReplyDeleteI will NOT buy a milking goat for the garden this year. Surely I can stick to this? Waaay too much work. Who needs homemade yoghurt and cheese right?
ReplyDeleteI don't really make resolutions but I am going to try and be a good girl (and positive) girl in 2013
ReplyDeleteCigs Marti
